The year is 2378, three years since the catastrophic end of the Dominion War. The Alpha Quadrant has been rebuilding from the shattered remains left behind in the wake of one of the deadliest and most destructive conflicts in recorded history. Without question the Cardassian Union suffered the deepest wounds at the hands of all sides, and three years of recovery has barely impacted the dire situation.
Yet from the war-torn cities and the refugee camps of Cardassia Prime has arisen the first true Civilian Government in centuries, and it has put in place democracy. A New Cardassia has been intertwined with the Federation, and a unique experiment has been launched. In the Cardassian frontier opposite the former demilitarized zone lies what the Cardassians have long called the Keltok Belt, a largely uncharted swath of space extending to the Tholian border. The edge is home to Joint Station 1, or Keltok Nor, a space station home to a Starfleet and Cardassian crew. This first of a kind station was approved by the Federation Council and the Detapa Council as part of the Final Armistice of 2377, proving that enemies can become allies.
But the road is long, and enemies do not become friends overnight.
